2024 National Women's Sailing Conference
presented by allstate sugar bowl
WHERE WE ARE GATHERING
New Orleans, Louisiana, is the chosen sailing ground for the 2024 National Women’s Sailing Association Conference presented by Allstate Sugar Bowl on June 8, 2024. We will be gathering at the historic Southern Yacht Club (SYC). A member of Gulf Yachting Association and established in 1849, SYC is the second oldest yacht club in the United States. The Club underwent a considerable rebuild in 2009 after suffering damage from Hurricane Katrina.
The facility overlooks Lake Pontchartrain, part of the largest estuary on the Gulf Coast Louisiana. The lake, about 40 miles wide, expands 24 miles from the north toward the city on the southern shore with stunning views of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the longest continuous span over water in the world.
We are also pleased to offer on-the-water sailing workshops out of Community Sailing New Orleans (CSNO), which is a short walk from Southern Yacht Club. CSNO offers programs for adults, youth and adaptive sailing.
WHERE WE'LL BE SAILING
Lake Pontchartrain is only 20 minutes from the French Quarter. The Lake is home to the Lake Pontchartrain Women’s Sailing Association, New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor, and the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation.
